YAMILA VIANA

 

Argentine born producer Yamila Viana has been based in New York City since leaving Venice in 2010. After winning both the Salon and Stage Tango championships in San Francisco’s ATUSA in 2015, Yamila founded the NYC Tango School as a space to coach national competitors, professional ballroom dancers and social dancers of all ages.

 

As Director of the NYC Tango School since 2016, Viana has created a home for World Tango Champions and instructors, featuring innovative programs of her own design. 

 

Training since the age of five, she attended the Dance Conservatory in Misiones before moving to Buenos Aires and joining the prestigious National Ballet of Argentina. She has performed, as principal dancer, throughout South America, Europe and the USA.

 

After a successful career as a ballet, modern and tango dancer in Argentina, and as and artistic director and producer in Venice, Italy, Yamila Viana is currently an NYC producer and the Director of the New York City Tango School. 

 

Recently she presented the CYCLIC Tango Dance Company in Times Square's legendary B.B. King Blues Club & Grill. Viana is currently producing Tango Night for Jazz Bar ZINC in Greenwich Village, featuring a unique live music experience for social tango dancers accompanied by the most acclaimed tango musicians in town.

 

Yamila Viana is a member of the International Dance Council, UNESCO headquarters in Paris.
